Friday Freebie
If you’re sick and tired of your sleek iPhone slipping out of your hands, or the thought of a scratch defacing the back of your iPhone makes you cringe, the folks over at 1 Sale A Day are offering (for a limited time) a free black silicone case for your iPhone. That’s right, free (pocket lint that sticks to the silicone case is not included).
OK, it’s not totally, free. You still have to pay $3.99 for shipping and handling. You also have to register for an account with 1 Sale a Day, which means you have to give them your name, address, credit card number, and an e-mail address. I’m not familiar with 1 Sale a Day, but they do say in their privacy policy that they may share your personal information with third parties “for the purpose of providing you information regarding products and services that we think will be of interest to you,” which isn’t really out of the ordinary. Over at ResellerRatings.com, 1 Sale a Day has 18 customer reviews and a six-month rating of 0.58 out of 10, and a lifetime rating of 1.53 out of 10.
So there is a “price” to this case, real or imagined. I ordered one anyway, because I can’t resist the (sorta) free stuff. I used my spam Hotmail e-mail address, and I used a credit card that I save especially for unfamiliar retailers. When I ordered the case, 1 Sale a Day shipped only to the billing address, and only offered ground shipping. A copy of my receipt was e-mailed to me. We’ll see in a few days what this case is all about.
The offer ends on May 2, 2008, around 9 p.m. PST.
