When is 60 days not 60 days
Pursuant to yesterday’s post on Mr. Schlossberg’s rather blunt appraisal that the iPhone would be going 3G in sixty days, the noted tech journalist has now retracted his comment. Speaking with Silicon Alley Insider, Schlossy said that his estimate was based on the same sort of speculation that the rest of us mere mortals have been hearing, and that the sixty day number wasn’t the result of any inside information.
Besides, he added, “If I knew when this date was, why would I announce it in the middle of a sentence at the Finnish embassy, rather than report it in the Wall Street Journal?” We have our own suspicions about the Finns’ involvement (disinformation for Nokia?), but it’s still a fair point. It may simply be, however, that while he doesn’t have the sources to print such an allegation, he might mention it in an off-the-cuff comment. But we’ll take old Malt at face value on this one.

We all know that he got a threatening call from Jobs. "Take it back, or you'll never see an Apple product before it hits the Apple Store floor, Goatberg [sorry, Sclossberg, wouldn't want to confuse your readers with more than one silly epithet--too late]." Or maybe it was my threat to haunt him :)

If there is a company dedicated to strategic planning and marketing it is Apple.
So, how come you can't find any iPhones in any stores all over the US?
If this were a mistake it would cost someones job and it would be fixed in a matter of days.
If this were a mistake it would certainly be exploited by the competition through PR campaigns written by blood thirsty reporters.
I trully believe a new version of the iPhone is comming out, Apple has all the tipical signs out there.
Regardless of what it is said, Apple's actioms speak loudly.
