Geez, T-Mobile. Offering the iPhone for €99? That’s just verrückt (I’ve really been enjoying Babelfish recently, as you can probably tell). Anyway, if you’ve been waiting on buying an iPhone until the price went down a bit, perhaps you should consider a change of scenery. May I suggest Germany?
Well, before you hop on the nearest Lufthansa flight, consider the caveats. The €99 price tag applies only to the 8GB model of the iPhone—you’ll still need to fork over €499 if you want to up that to 16GB. Also, the offer only applies from April 7th to June 30th, and to qualify, you need to sign up for T-Mobile’s most expensive calling plan, which runs €89/month. If you opt for the cheaper €29/month plan, the price of the phone shoots up to €249.
Of course, the real hubbub is whether this portends a newer 3G model waiting in the wings, a rumor that’s been flying fast and furious in the last few days. Naturally, neither T-Mobile nor Apple is saying a word about that potential development, but the timing is…convenient, hmm?
