Having the Internet on your phone is grrrrrrreat

The Great ThingApple’s going advercrazy. Earlier in the week, two new iPhone ads showed up on the Internets. Now, the final part of the trilogy has appeared: The Great Thing. If you can guess what this ad is about, I promise to buy a cookie, should we ever meet in person. And provided that you like Oreos. And if you don’t, well, why must you be a hater?

Anyway, as I was saying, this spot showcases how great it is to have the Internet on your phone. The Internet? On your phone? Amazing!

Okay, as I said earlier in the week, I get that these ads aren’t necessarily for me. Still, neither are the Get a Mac ads, and at least I still find those enjoyable when a new one comes out. The iPhone ads were effective at building excitement when the phone came out, when we couldn’t get enough of tapping, swiping, and pinching.

How come Apple hasn’t made an ad showing off 1.1.3’s location features? That’s pretty cool stuff right there. Or, here’s an idea, how about an ad with two guys representing an iPhone and a Blackberry. Genius, right?

A few weeks before this commercial came out I had used my iPhone to carry my trail map with me.

On the bus back from the mountain some guy was telling me how that would make a great iPhone commercial.

I wonder if he was in advertising.
