iPhone 1.1.3 makes its breakout appearance
It was really only a matter of time before the devoted team of iphone hackers managed to crack the latest firmware from Apple. As of last night, a jailbreak solution for the iPhone’s 1.1.3 software has been released for both OS X and Windows.
One caveat before you begin the process: in order to get the hacked version of 1.1.3, you’ll need to be upgrading from a jailbroken version of 1.1.1 or 1.1.2. I’m not sure if there’s a way yet to downgrade from 1.1.3 to an earlier version, but it’s likely that one will appear before long or some other loophole will be found.
If you’re looking for the full skinny on how to the whole jailbreak thing, you could do much worse than to check out this lengthy tutorial at Lifehacker (it mostly documents the Windows process, but it should be similar for OS X).

There's just no sensible reason why an iPhone owner would tinker on his/her phone and install jailbreak. Since the software is created by hackers, how sure are we that jailbreak does not have hidden wares that prey on our iphone?

If you have a lot of time tinkering with the fixes then this is it. But If you want something that works please hold on until some bugs are fixed. It says you need to upgrade from 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 that is jailbreak but I'm not sure now which upgrade version brings out a stable version. As for my 1.1.1 version it yielded a lot of bugs and "yes" I followed instructions. The install was flawless but the outcome oh..caveat

DOES IT ALSO WORK WITH ANY SIM?

So, it's not really a jailbreak for 1.1.3 since you have to downgrade to 1.1.2 before you can jailbreak. It's a little confusing when they twist things around like that. Why don't they just jailbreak 1.1.3 and stop worrying about the previous versions? It's stuff like that that makes me weary of trying this stuff because it's like they don't really know what they're doing with the current release. I'll wait for the official apps.
