Apple gets voicemail from Klausner: “See you in court.”

Visual VoicemailiPhone lawsuits: the gift that, in this holiday season, keeps on giving. We spin the wheel of litigation and it ticka-ticka-tickas to land on “patent infringement.” The plaintiff in this round, Klausner Technologies, claims that the iPhone’s Visual Voicemail feature infringes on its intellectual property, specifically U.S. Patents and 5,283,818.

Klausner Technologies is the brainchild of Judah Klausner, who also claims to have invented the PDA. The firm has also launched suits in the past against AOL and Vonage and, in both cases, the companies ended up settling and licensing the patents from Klausner. That development would seem to suggest that settlement with Apple is not out of the question. Apple’s not flying solo in the defense here, having been named alongside Comcast, Cablevision and Skype, which all apparently offer similar functionality to users.

And just when you’d started to wonder what to get the patent troll who has everything.
