Unlock your iPhone on 1.1.1…if you dare
The whole iPhone hacking thing is a lot like the circle of life. In that, er, it’s circular…and full of life. Okay, the metaphor has been lost, but it’s enough to know that it just keeps on keepin’ on. After the 1.1.1 salvo fired by Apple, teams have been working to restore the functionality that was lost by the update. While we’ve seen some movement on third-party applications, what of iPhone unlocking, which some see as the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in this whole epic showdown.
Well, the unlocking folks have rallied and retaliated. The iPhoneSimFree team is saying that now can they not only unlock iPhones using the 1.1.1 firmware, but using the iPhone Dev Team’s instructions for downgrading to 1.0.2, can offer a way to restore phones bricked by the 1.1.1 update. And don’t forget that iPhoneSimFree is a commercial product, so this will cost you.
Of course, it’s only a matter of time before we see Apple’s return with 1.1.2, so as always, you proceed at your own risk.
