Among the functionality rendered inoperable by Apple’s 1.1.1 iPhone software update was the ability to load up your phone with ringtones made from your own music and sounds, without having to venture into the per-ringtone madness of the iTunes Store. Fortunately, the clever folks at Ambrosia have revved their iToner app to version 1.0.3. New in this version: restoring peace, harmony, and equilibrium to iPhone users everywhere.
Now, I don’t know what kind of strange voodoo or illicit deals the Ambrosia crew had to make to get iToner working again—and frankly, I don’t want to know. I’m just happy to have the Doctor Who theme song returned to its rightful place of honor as my iPhone’s primary ringtone.
As with previous versions, iToner costs $15. If you ever plan on making more than about 15 ringtones via the iTunes method, you’ll save a bundle in the long run, as long as Ambrosia can keep finding away around any roadblocks Apple might put up.
note that right now, the maximum songs you can sync is around 5. Anymore than that and the ringtones will appear in the iPhone but there will be no sound.
The faq at itoner website advise to keep it the number around 5, while they're fixing the issue. But I'm with you on spending 15$ if you plan on using 15 or more ringtones. Worth it!
