France on the iPhone: Moi Aussi

france.jpgIt happened in the U.K. Tuesday, then in Germany on Wednesday, so why not have France get into the act as well? France Telecom announced Thursday that its wireless division Orange would be the iPhone’s official mobile service provider in France.

That’s about where the details begin and end, however. Unlike the U.K. and Germany where price (£269 and €399, respectively) and ship date (November 9 for both) were part of the announcement, France Telecom didn’t spill any of that info when announcing its iPhone deal at a telecommunications conference in Hanoi. According to this CNN report, chief executive Didier Lombard says the phone will ship in France “before Christmas, probably in November,” so I’ll take November 9 in the office pool, please.
