Nullriver’s installer contains graphic images
The Terminal’s a scary place—I understand. For those of you who decided to forego hacking your iPhone if it required delving into the land of green text on a black background, the time for excuses is now over. The folks at Nullriver, who brought you the iPhone Installer, have now released a GUI installer for the installer, meaning that bring third-party apps to your iPhone is now as simple as it’s going to get without help from Cupertino.
You can download the new installer, AppTappInstaller, from their site, and you’ll be well on your way to installing a handful of nifty third-party applications. I haven’t gotten a chance to try this out yet, but as soon as I restore my phone and upgrade to the 1.0.2 firmware (with which the Installer is totally compatible), you can bet it’ll be the first thing I fire up.
Now, Apple: are we going to keep playing this silly game of cat and mouse? I don’t want to have to reinstall my apps every time you come out with new firmware. I think it’s time for you to let go.

Does it work with the new update (1.0.2)? I have not used any hacks yet, but it is getting very tempting. What is the worst that can happen? I can deal with having to restore my iPhone, but is it possible to render it unusable?

"Cat and mouse"?
Apple's not playing games with iPhone hackers with their software updates.
The updates install a known-to-be-good image of the iPhone if the software on it isn't what is expected. This is exactly the same as the general fix for windows machines... reformat the drive, and reinstall everything.
It's simple, and fixes any issues the phone may have.
It's actually helpful for hackers, since they always have a convenient method of returning to the factory state, and so are free to take risks with their $600 phones without worrying about turning it into a warrantee voided brick.

Once installed how do you use the apps that come with the installer? I selected the ringtones app and it said it installed, now what?

Same case as others..
I have the installer ver. 2.63 in my iphone
I'm using the iphone outside USA with firmware 1.0.2. For obvious reasons I would like to upgrading up to 1.1.1 (so far). I don't have clear de process (and not yet better) the result of that, and if it is worth it or not (because so far I'm very happy with what I have right now)
Thanks for any answer in advance..
