Apple updates iPhone software

Apple on Tuesday updated the software for its iPhone, bringing the most current version to 1.0.2. Notes accompanying the software update only say that the new version fixes bugs, but does not provide any details on what has been fixed.

The update is available when the iPhone is connected to your computer. After iTunes launches the update can be downloaded and installed.

Similar to the first iPhone update, 1.0.2 validates the current iPhone software — if hacks are installed, a complete restore will be necessary. If you have not hacked your iPhone, the update process only takes a minute or two to complete the process.

Great. Next we have to listen to all those "Apple broke the hacks that I installed" stories...

Installed! That was quicker than the last update, actually. Much quicker. I was undecided about restarting first. My uptime is 20 days 22 hours (since last security update). I was feeling lucky, so I didn't. All went well.

Mine went well too. But I didn't install any ringtones this time around :-)

I had some of my songs on my iPhone play with a lot of static. I was on Safari at the time too. Some 3 songs in a row where very staticky. Problem went away after turning it off.

No problems - but I still can't surf the net on WiFi while using my BT headset on a call.

I don't know if it's the Edge network or the update, but my email has been pretty crappy today...
