All about the Benjamins: save $100 on an iPhone

Refurbished iPhonesBeen holding out on the iPhone until that lowest possible price drops to under half a G? Today may be your lucky day: you can snag a 4GB or 8GB model for $100 under the usual retail price. Think of all the things you could do with that extra $100: get ahead on your student loans, buy two weeks worth of groceries, get a puppy.

Of course, as with all good things, this deal isn’t without a catch. The models in question are associated with the dread ‘r’ word: refurbished. But it’s not just anybody offering up these good-as-new iPhones: it’s Apple. If anybody knows how to refurbish an iPhone, it’s the folks from Cupertino, and probably not eBay user i<3iPhone.

As with all refurbed products, the iPhoens come with the standard 1 year warranty, extendable for another to two years with the purchase of the $69 Apple Care Protection Plan. With free shipping, you can grab the extended warranty and still save $30 on the full retail price. Sounds like a bargain to me.

Update: Fixed price phrasing. Boy, I was tired this morning.

Just to clarification FYI. The Apple Care Plan extends support by a year. It doesn't add 2 years.

@Michael: Absolutely correct, thanks. My brain must not be fully booted up yet. Fixed. :)

Thanks for the tip, but..."half a thousand Gs"? Your iPhone cost $500,000.00? Where're you buying your iPhone?! ;-)

(A "G" is $1,000, not $1.)

Or, instead, buy the iPhone on your platinum card, and it automatically doubles the warranty by up to a year, without shelling out the $69.00 plus tax.

Just as a FYI, I think you misspelled "iPhone." You must really have been tired.

Can't get it as a gift to give because I think the refurbished ones come in generic brown boxes, not the sleek packaging of a new machine.... unless I am wrong?
