The shipping news: iPhone, accessory availability
The online Apple Store was down ever so briefly this morning, and quick as a wink reappeared with only slight updates. While there was nothing brand new added, the availability of several products has been improved: iPhones, for example, are now shipping within 24 hours; Apple’s Bluetooth headset is shipping in 5-7 business days; and Shure’s Music Phone Adapter is apparently now shipping as well.
Most other accessories seem to be shipping within 24 hours as well, although a few are at the 5-7 day mark—I saw only one product that had a shipping time of more than a week. One month out, it seems like the launch rush is finally over, and we’re settling down into the halcyon days of iPhone plentitude.

I received an email from the Apple Store last Friday claiming “Good news!” My Apple Bluetooth Headset will be shipping between August 3-7. Prior to that, I was looking at the 21st, IIRC. It will be shipped sooner than my Apple Care will, although I bought them at the same time.
I’ve read reports of people already buying and reviewing the headset, even though it supposedly wasn’t available according to an Apple Store, the online Apple Store, and my AT&T store.
Good news indeed.

A friend of mine tipped me off as early as last Thursday about the availability of Shure's adapter for the iPhone, an accessory my friends and I have been eagerly anticipating, as none of our Shure headphones fit the iPhone's headphone jack. All of us ordered the Shure part on that day, and, surprisingly, because Shure's iPhone adapter wasn't supposed to be available until August (!), it shipped the very same day. At least one of my friends received his adapter last Friday! Mine is scheduled to arrive this Wednesday as I chose the cheapest possible shipping (I wasn't in a rush..).

I received my iPhone Bluetooth headset today (July 30) at 10 AM via FedEx. It's super! The dual cradle is really nice. The bluetooth pairing was very simple and the added flexibility (options for listening to calls) on the iPhone is a nice extra.
