iPhone tips: Ours and yours

Over at The Mothership, we’ve posted 21 of our favorite iPhone tips, dealing with everything from Safari to Mail to the iPod features of the phone. Some of the tips — like Chris Breen’s storage solution — will be familiar to devoted iPhone Central readers, others will be new, but in either case, it’s nice to have things collected all in one place.

We’re also hoping readers will chime in with tips of their own, like this one that came via e-mail from reader Robert Taylor:

I know this may seem obvious, but I haven’t seen it written up yet. The Cover Flow view is very cool and looks great as the albums go by. Has anyone there noticed that if you want to slow it down somewhat you just use a single tap to one side of the album to see them one by one? Just thought I’d throw that out there.

To tell you the truth, I hadn’t noticed that. Usually, when I use the Cover View on the iPhone, I’m so taken by the scroll resulting from the flick of my finger that it’s all I can do to keep myself from flicking from end of the music collection to the other. I also add a barely perceptible “Wheeeeeeee!” each time I scroll — I don’t think I’m at all well.

But getting back to Robert’s point — yes, if you just want to move from one album to the next, a single finger tap on the next album will do the trick. (To jump two albums ahead, tap on the second cover and so on.) It’s a nice way to keep your Cover Flow scrolling under control; no “Wheeeeeeee!” is necessary.
