From the “I didn’t know that” department: if you wake your iPhone from sleep when it’s playing music, it will display the currently playing album’s art instead of your wallpaper as well as put the name of the track that you’re playing underneath the clock. That way you don’t have to unlock the phone if you can’t remember what song you’re listening to.

True. But the downside is: there's no way to pause/play when the phone is locked. (Unless you're using the "pinch" earbuds, of course.)
I listen to the iPhone in my car. If I want to pause the playback, I have to unlock the phone, go to iPhone, then hit pause. Not great for avoiding accidents...
There should be a single "pause" ability when the phone is locked.
I agree with the first post. Like double tapping the album art while the phone is locked could pause the song (if they do not want to introduce a pause button on the lock menu. Would just keep it cleaner with a double tap function).
If you use a car charger the iPhone will never lock itself or go to sleep. It's another cord, but it works.
If your phone is locked and you push the HOME button twice, the pause button will appear on the screen and you can then pause the ipod without unlocking the phone itself.
