It may seem like a no brainer, but since full-fledged AJAX applications run fine on the iPhone, so do many bookmarklets. Bookmarklets, if you’re not familiar with them, are little JavaScript applications that look just like bookmarks. They can do handy things like help you shrink URLs, or let you search a website without going to it. And as it happens, some are super useful for the iPhone.
Over at LifeClever, they’ve assembled seventeen bookmarklets that iPhone users might find useful, along with sites to visit for plenty more. Tops is one that lets you search for text on a page, functionality that is annoyingly absent in the iPhone’s version of Safari. You’ll also find bookmarklets that let you search IMDB, Amazon, eBay and other popular sites: handy when you don’t want to take the time to load up the entire page before searching.
To use the bookmarklets, drag the link into your Safari bookmarks, and then sync your iPhone: then you can call them up from the bookmark list on the iPhone.
