According to Apple, you can sync your iPhone with your contact information and calendars from Entourage. While that’s technically true, a recently published Apple knowledge base document shows that what APple really means by this is that you should sync your contacts and calendars from Entourage with Address Book and iCal, and then sync those with your iPhone.
You’ll need to have Office updated to version 11.3.5 for this to work, then visit the Sync Services section of Entourage’s preferences and enable syncing for iCal and Address Book. Entourage will give you an option to replace Entourage’s information with Address Book, vice versa, or merge the two.
I don’t find it terribly surprising that this is Apple’s solution for syncing with Entourage, but hopefully it’ll be acceptable for those of you who need it.
It's not just *Apple's* solution. Microsoft put that support in there to make synching E'rage data easier because it's a better solution for them. Apple only provided Sync Services, Microsoft did all the coding.
Sync Services will, (with any luck) over time kill the idea that you sync to a specific application, Instead, everything syncs to sync services, and you don't have to care about conduits and applications, because it all happens automatically for you and it just works.
And as someone who does in fact do this, it works really well.
Probably the easiest solution for Entourage to iPhone or other device that can be synchronized is to use E2Sync (http://www.e2sync.com/) which has worked for me for several months.
That's exactly what how I figured it would all work when I wrote this post: http://tinyurl.com/2egwh9

IMO, Apple provided the most simple form of syncing and makes it readily accessible to everyone else for integration of their software. I love it!
'it works really well', except that if you use Entourage to be consistant with your corporate Outlook brethern, and say add a contact in Entourage assigned to a specific group, the contact will be sync'd but the group relationship will not be maintained. Also, my Entourage version says 11.3.3 and is syncing with the sync services. Finally, on the subject of groups, its also disappointing that they cannot be managed from the iPhone directly. A little ackward right now.
This isn't working for me, actually. I've had to shut sync services off. Maybe if I reinstalled my entire digital world from scratch it wouldn't crash on me every 3 minutes, but I don't have that kind of time. Right now, sadly, it's easier to create info in Entourage and then drag it into Address Book and iCal for syncing. I'm definitely not enjoying not having my Notes and Tasks in my iPhone.
Would love to see something that works on that front.
