So we’ve been over the three basic plans, and the fact that the iPhone seems to be shunning business customers, but that’s not all—oh no, not by a long shot. As more than a few of our readers have pointed out, Apple has posted more detailed information about the iPhone’s calling plans on its website.
1,350 minutes just not enough for you? You can get 2000 minutes for $119.99, 4000 minutes for $169.99, and an insane 6000 minutes for $219.99. All include Visual Voicemail, unlimited data, 200 text messages, unlimited nights and weekends, yada yada yada.
Family plans users aren’t left out in the cold either. $80 will net you 700 shared minutes, $100 for 1400, $120 for 2100, $160 for 3000, $210 for 4000, $310 for 6000—all including the same features as the other plans (200 text messages, unlimited data, etc). Be advised: the small print says “Includes one line. Additional iPhone lines are $29.99 each.” We don’t know yet how this will work if you want to mix an iPhones and another cell phone.
Existing AT&T customers can add unlimited data and Visual Voicemail for just $20/month on top of their existing plan. If you want more text messages, you can pay $30/month for 1500 or $40/month for unlimited.
"We don't know yet how this will work if you want to mix an iPhones and another cell phone."
How indeed. I hope Apple clarifies this before Friday. There will be plenty of iPhone buyers who have unenlightened spouses. The iPhone family plan better have a way to accommodate non-iPhone lines (hopefully for the $10/line AT&T currently charges.)
THE IPHONE IS HARDWARE LOCKED
Not getting it. Possibly those sold overseas may not be. If so, there will be a big grey market. I'm thinking they will be unlockable as sold in Europe. The EU seems to think that corporate is NOT King and consumers should have choices.
