Steve Jobs says “Thanks”

Posted by Dan Frakes | Thursday, June 28, 2007 4:37 PM PT

thankyou.jpg From what we hear, working at Apple can be hard but rewarding work. According to an Ars Technica story on today’s “all-company” meeting, Jobs rewarded hard work by promising every employee a brand-spankin’-new iPhone next month:

To thank the employees, all fulltime Apple employees in the US who have been there for a year will be getting an iPhone at the end of July. Multiple sources have told me that they believe this includes retail employees.

A new phone may not completely make up for months of late nights and weekends, but I don’t think anyone’s complaining. Now how about free iPhones for all of us who work hard covering Apple’s hard work?

P.S. Check out the Ars article for a few rumor-inducing tidbits about new Macs and iPods.

I'll say this: if they're giving out phones to all Apple employees (from what I understand, ~15,000), they're probably not too worried about supply. So we shouldn't be either!

Supposedly, the reason they have to wait until July is because that's when Apple expects demand to die down a bit ;-)

I seem to recall that the press received iPods at the initial iPod release. Only seems fair that you should get an iPhone now... ;-)

Actually, David Pogue's had one for the last two weeks!
